Vier Nuwe Jaar

Wat is dan nou meer opwindend om die nuwe jaar mee in te gaan as met ‘n lekker mengeldrankie. Ek maak graag ‘n afsonderlike mengeldrankie-tafel staan met meerendeels jenewer en verskillende tonikums, lemonade, sodawater en baie ys. Maar die groot lekkerte kom in van wat jy alles kan byvoeg: ek sit houertjies uit met van skyfies vrugte soos suurlemoen, lemoen, nektariens of appel en ook bessies. Dan druk ek ‘n klompie vars kruie in ‘n pot met ‘n skêrtjie by en mense kan self afknip, daar’s ook spekboom- en malvatakkies en roosblare.

Die grootste uniekheid is egter dat ek deesdae my mengeldrankies altyd met ‘n sakkie geurige rooibostee as basis doen – Carmién se verskeidenheid ken nie perke nie – dink aan geure soos Floral Berry of Turkish Delight; Tropical Burst, Citrus Chai of Orange Camomile en Creamy Mint – kan mos net lekker wees om daarmee te eksperimenteer.

Dan is daar ook nog die lieflike Cold Brew-reeks waar jy weer jou weer kan begewe in geurkombinasies soos Coco Pine, Apricot Blossom, Apple Mint en Cranberry Hibiscus. En boonop is daar twee jenewers ook in die reeks: Floral Berry Gin asook Citrus Chai Gin.

En die nuutste treffer: Carmién se sprankel ystees (Sparkling Ice Teas), gelaai met interressante geure en antioksidante, maar met min kilojoules! Die pragtige blomblikkies is mooi genoeg om uit te stal op tafel en ook ideaal vir by jou mengeldrankie gooi. FLORAL BERRY G&T

For the gin, the popular Floral Berry Rooibos Pyramid Tea Blend has been distilled into a light Floral Berry gin which has a beautifully aromatic, sweet floral nose and a classic initial top note of juniper ending with a lingering berry flavour. The gin is available in a beautiful 500 ml bottle or in a 50 ml Mini Gin Taster Bottle, which is just enough for a generous one shot.

1 tot of Carmién’s Floral Berry Gin
1 Carmién Turkish Delight Pyramid bag or Cranberry Hibiscus Cold Brew bag
Ice
Pink Indian Tonic water (sugar-free if preferred)
Soda water (if preferred)
Spekboom or geranium sprigs
Variety of West Coast flowers

Pour a tot of gin into a glass and add your preferred tea bag. Infuse for 2 minutes, remove the bag if preferred (I keep the bag in), top with ice and add the tonic water. (For a less sweet taste you can have half tonic water and half soda water). Arrange a spekboom or geranium sprig in the glass and garnish with some West Coast flowers. Serve immediately.

CITRUS CHAI G&T

The spicy pyramid Citrus Chai rooibos tea blend is distilled into a beautifully aromatic blend with a warm lingering chai note which is intense and fragrantly spicy on the nose.

1 tot Carmién’s Citrus Chai Gin
1 Carmién Tropical Burst Pyramid bag or Apricot Blossom Cold Brew Bag
Star anise, cinnamon sticks and pink peppercorns
Ice
Lemon Tonic water (sugar-free if preferred)
Soda water (if preferred)
Variety of West coast flowers for garnishing

Pour the gin into a glass, add your preferred tea bag and infuse for 2 minutes. Remove the bag if preferred and add the spices. Top with ice. Add tonic water and soda water if preferred and garnish with West Coast flowers. Serve immediately.
